Enflick Debuts PingChat! Instant Messaging Platform for Smartphones

Canadian company Enflick announced the launch of a new instant messaging platform called PingChat!. Enflick Inc. is known for its applications including TextNow, Mail Notifier, and MessageNow.

PingChat! is a free cross-platform solution that is suitable for RIM, Google and Apple (News - Alert) smartphone devices. The app was released on 13th August for the Android and BlackBerry phones. Within a day of release the app attracted 25,000 new users, confirmed company sources.

PingChat! Enables both one to one instant messaging as well as group messaging. PingChat! For iPhone (News - Alert) was released in September, 2009 and it has garnered about 3 million registered users till date. This amounts to managing over 8 million messages per day. PingChat! 2 for BlackBerry (News - Alert) and Android platforms will further expand the capabilities of the app.

The new app offers features like media messaging in the form of pictures and video;  group messaging; voice notes; new user interface; location messaging like sending locations via Google (News - Alert) maps; new servers and infrastructure to improve reliability and Find PingChat! feature.

In a release Gary Fung, founder of PingChat! said, “We are totally stoked by PingChat!’s out of the gate performance.”

“This app goes beyond anything BBM can offer - our app gives users the ability to message friends, groups of friends, and provides full platform coverage including BlackBerry, Android and the iPhone, making it the most universally available instant messaging system on the planet!,” Fung added.

Gary Fung was instrumental in producing many apps such as the Smart Dial and PushGmail for the iPhone.

PingChat was released in 2009 and it soon became one of the best apps in the Apple iPhone app store. “It  surpassed Facebook, MySpace (News - Alert) and many others within its first week of sales catching the attention of impressive media sources including the Toronto Star, LeMatin, Storm Magazine, PCWorld, and Gizmodo” said company officials.

The motive behind the creation of PingChat was to relieve subscribers from the high fees charged for SMS and MMS services. Fung expects to make PingChat the most reliable and feature rich communication platform across the smartphone market.
